Draconian Tides Pt.3

As I'm sitting in class, I can't help but worry that at any point, my secret could get out, considering that the classroom is filled with computers and on that particular day, we were doing a project on the computers. As I sit down, I slowly reach for the keyboard, Will is watching me the entire time and asks "Why so freaked out, you've used it before" and starts laughing, I'm embarrassed, but I have my reasons. I touch the keyboard and to my relief, no shock comes out.  I touch the mouse and no shock. I relax a bit and get to work on my project. While we're working, another friend of mine walks up. Despite my relaxed state, I'm still a bit paranoid and when he says "Hey guys, how's it going?" I can't help but jump a bit, earning a laugh from both of them.

"Hey Roger, how's it going?" I say, terribly embarrassed, and wanting to move on with the conversation.

"Why so jumpy?" he asks

"I don't really want to talk about it."

He seems to understand and turns to Will to continue the conversation. I lay my head down on the desk, trying everything to calm myself and telling myself that I am in control.

After a few minutes, I manage to calm myself, though my paranoia is still fairly strong. Roger had walked away by now and Will had gone back to his work. Sighing, I decide to get back to my work and begin to paint in the drawing I had made. A few minutes later, another friend of mine comes up. This time though, I hear him coming and know he's there so I don't get jumpy.

"Hey Corbyn, how's it going?" I ask

"Fine.  Having a bit of trouble with my work."

"What kind of trouble?"

"I can't seem to get the program to work for me."

Will offers to help and they walk over to Corbyn's computer and I'm left alone for a few minutes. I sit back and start to wonder if showing Will that I'm a dragon is a good idea or not.  I know full well it wouldn't matter if the dream was in fact the cause of the transformation, but at the same time, I had no idea if that was true or not.  For all I know, I might show him, then find out the dream isn't the cause and I had revealed myself for nothing. In the end I decided that it would be worth the risk and would help me get over my paranoid state of mind.

After Will comes back, he sits down and asks me "So why are you so jumpy today, you have never acted like this before?"

"It's because of the thing I want to show you at break. Its a huge thing. You have to promise me that you won't tell anyone about it, okay?"
"Why do I have to promise?"

"Because if you don't keep it a secret, then I might very well be hauled off and experimented on!"

I knew he would think I was joking, but in the end, he did make the promise. Finally, break came around and we headed to the bathroom.

"Ok, so what is this big secret you wanted to show me?"

I asked him "Do you have anything electric on you?"

Bewildered, he asked "Why do you need something electric?"

"If you want to find out why, then give me something."

He pulls out his phone and I take it in my hands. I look around the phone and decide to use the charger port to get my results. I look at him and say "Don't worry, I won't break your phone." and put my finger near the charge port and focus. A bolt of electricity jumps out and hits my finger and Will looks at me, freaked out.  

"Are you okay?!"

I don't answer him, instead I hold up my hand to show him the scales growing in.  In just a few seconds I was a dragon once again.

Will stares at me with a look of mixed curiosity and disbelief. Finally he asks "What the heck happened, how are you a dragon?"

"Honestly, I have no idea, it just happened. I think it might have something to do with the dream that I had."

After a minute of thinking, Will says "If it does then will I be a dragon?"

"Looks like it. I think since you had a rainstorm, you will probably be a water dragon since my dream had a lightning storm and I became an electric dragon."

"Dude, that would be amazing! Do you know when it will happen?"

"Likely about 3:30 or so, mine occurred then."

Will's expression changed from awe to concern, "Will it hurt?!"

"It was painless for me but it was strange.  If you want, you can come over to my place, my parents are already aware of what happened and it would give us a chance to see it and if you need any help, I'll be there."

"Alright, that'll work."

Suddenly the door opened and two people walked in, I never had the chance to change back, the only thing I could do was watch as both Roger and Corbyn walked in to find me as a dragon.

We stood there for what felt like eternity before Corbyn broke the silence. "What is going on?" he asked.

"I was just showing Will that I was a dragon, and I guess now you guys know, too."

Roger stammered "Ho..how are you a dragon?"

"I don't know, it just happened."  I was getting pretty tired of that question but I knew I'd have to put up with it.

"How do you just become a dragon?" Roger asked.

"How should I know, maybe I'm destined for something bigger."

Corbyn looked up and down the length of my dragon body, studying the scales. "Well, I think it's pretty cool!"

"Thanks, also Will might be turning into one later."

"Really?" they both said in unison as their gaze went from me to Will, as if they expected it to happen immediately.  

"Yea, if you guys want you can come with us, would you mind?" I asked Will.

"Not at all."

"Okay then, meet me out front of the school and we'll head to my house."

I shifted back to human form and we went back to class. At the end of the school day as we rode the bus home, I thought about the fact that I could fly.  I could have flown home, but I don't think I could carry everyone on my back. We got to my house and went inside.  My parents were gone except for my grandma and I told her that I had friends over and we sat down in the living room.  My cousin was in the basement and I don't think he would like to see my friend changing to a dragon. We sat back and waited, watching some TV to pass the time. Eventually I looked at the clock and saw that it read 3:30.  Almost on cue, Will said that he was feeling numb and we all watched as blue scales began to form on his hands and moved up his arms in a wave.

"Hmm, not at all like my change." I said, confused as to why it was different.

When the scales had finished forming, his hands began to shift just like mine, only slower. His feet then shifted just like his hands and his legs bent backwards.

"Eww, that doesn't look pleasant!" Corbyn remarked.

"It's actually quite painless", I said as I watched in surprise as Will's face shifted before he grew his wings and tail.  His face pushed out and his eyes moved to the side just like mine. Then his wings began to grow out, followed by his tail. When his wings finished they gained a blue membrane that was slightly darker than mine. When they finished growing, his transformation finished and he looked down at himself.  I had to admit, despite the fact that I was one; it was quite daunting to be standing near a dragon. He said with excitement "WOW! This is awesome!"

Corbyn and Roger both said "I wonder if we'll become dragons?"

I looked over and said "Maybe you will, you never know." We turned and looked back at Will -- who was still admiring himself and I said "Now, it's time to see your abilities in action."
