Draconian Tides Pt.5

I spread my wings and began to flap them, the fact that I had never flown before now meant that I had no idea how to control myself, so things were going to be a little awkward. I managed to take off from the ground and found that it was strangely easy, almost like flight was instinctual. I raised myself further off the ground, turned myself towards the store and began to fly, the store wasn't very far so the flight was only a few seconds long. I got to the parking lot, found a hidden spot to change back and headed in. my grandma had given me a list to follow so I headed around and picked up everything. I headed up to the counter and set everything down, the woman behind the counter began to scan things when she had to stop, something was wrong with the machine. "Odd, it was working not five seconds ago, then just stopped" she said pressing the buttons.

"Maybe I can help?" I asked.

"I don't think so" she said as I slowly reached for the machine, I was going to give it a jolt of electricity, I had to be careful though, I had my phone in my hand. However as I reached for it, it started acting worse. Confused, I pulled my hand back and the machine got a bit better. I asked "does this machine respond to radio waves"

"Yes, why" she asked.

"I know the issue" I said, I turned off my phone and the machine began working again.

"Oh, much better" she said, she finished scanning everything and handed it to me, I walked out and headed for the spot where I changed, but there were people there now. Cursing to myself, I began the walk home. I approached the intersection, pressed the button and waited. I was a bit shocked that the spare electricity in my body had powered my phone to such a degree that it interfered with the machine. While I was waiting, my vision began to blur. "oh no, I thought I wouldn't need my glasses anymore" I said, I closed my eyes and rubbed them, but when I opened them, I got a huge shock!.

I wasn't seeing through my eyes, instead, my vision was higher up, much higher, and there were random numbers on the corners of my vision, I tried to see what was going on when whatever was causing this moved a bit and I could see myself standing on the corner. I closed my eyes and opened them and I was back in my eyes. I looked over to where that vision had come from and I could see a traffic camera trained on me. "what the hell was that" I said, confused. The signal turned and I headed across the street. I walked the rest of the way home thinking about the incident. What had happened?, how was I seeing through the camera?, was it a new ability?. When I got home, I told everyone about it. Corbyn said "if it is a new ability, then that's cool".

Roger said "why don't you give it a shot", he pulled out his phone and switched it to picture mode "here you can try it with this" he said.

"Are you sure, I don't want to fry your phone" I said.

"I don't think that the ability would fry it, if it exists" he said.

"Well, alright" I said. I looked at his phone and focused on it, almost on cue, my vision blurred and I shut my eyes, when I opened them, I could see myself through the camera. Looking at my eyes, I could see that they had turned blueish, almost like lightning, there also appeared to be a ring within the irises that looked like a camera lens. "No way, it's real, I'm looking through your camera" I said.

Roger replied "prove it", shifting the camera to where it was looking at my TV, which Will turned on, they changed the channel to History and Roger asked "okay, your not looking at the TV with your regular eyes, what channel is it on?"

"It's on the History Channel, also you have a fingerprint on the lens" I said.

He turned the camera and looked at the lens, I could see the shock in his eyes as he wiped off the fingerprint I had pointed out. I closed my eyes and opened them and I was back in my eyes. "that is cool" Corbyn said and I laughed to myself.

Will asked "what was it like, seeing yourself through the camera?"

I replied "it was weird, I could see myself talk and move, my eyes had also shifted to a blue color and gained a ring, like a real camera".

"That could be very useful in the future" Corbyn remarked.

"Don't get any dirty ideas" Will added. I glared at him saying "you want another jolt?!" he shut his mouth and looked away.

"So what now?" Corbyn asked

I said "well, we could either continue practicing our abilities or we could just sit back and relax for a while".

"I want to just sit back for the day, I'm still a bit shocked that I changed to a dragon" Will said.

"Same here" Roger and Corbyn remarked.

"Okay then" I said. We spent the rest of the day watching TV. Occasionally we would head outside and practice a bit, by the end of the day, Will and I had learned  how to fly a bit better as well as how to control our powers better. Around 7, as everyone was about to leave, I asked "you guys want to hang here for the night". It was the weekend and I figured they would agree, there was also a sense of mystery to the air, though what was causing it, I didn't know. They looked at each other and all of them said "sure". I went to my parents and asked if it was cool and they said yes. They had not been thrilled that Will had changed and thought that I had done it, but I assured them that it wasn't my doing. We sat down in front of the TV and watched it for a while. Eventually, we all shut off the TV and fell asleep.

I woke up at 12:00 again, I was about to pass it off and go to sleep when I heard Will ask "why is this happening again?"

I turned my head and said "it's cool man, I've had it three times now".

Will said "oh, ok" and we were about to fall asleep when Corbyn began to move,

He sat up and said "why is everything blue?, and it's so friggin cold in here, turn up the heat".

I said "Corbyn, don't freak out, but it turns out your having the same dream that changed me and Will into dragons"

he turned to me and said "you can't be serious, how am I having it?"

I said "don't panic, just listen to me, look outside and tell me what's happening?"

he walked over to the window and opened it, then said "there's a blizzard outside, there's snow everywhere"

I thought about it for a bit, then came to the realization, he's an ice dragon. I stood up and said "Corbyn, come with me" I led him down to the sunroom and said "okay, now what you need to do is go outside and stay out there until the sky flashes two times, then you need to run back inside".

"Okay" he said, he turned and stepped out into the blizzard, after about 5 minutes, the sky flashed and I could see him coming out of the blizzard and he stepped inside. We went back in and I said "congratulations Corbyn, you're going to be a dragon"

"You're serious?" he asked.

"Yep, we should get back to sleep though, tomorrow at 3:30, you'll change" I said. We headed up to the living room, lay back down and went back to sleep. Before I closed my eyes, I looked over to see Corbyn smiling, happy that he was going to change soon.
